No April Fool's joke: Ponson named Royals starter

Have fun, KC fans. That up-and-coming prospect, Luke Hochevar, sent to the minors while Ponson will get the nod. Good times a'coming in KC. At least they have good BBQ.

It doesn’t matter, it seems, that veteran right-hander Sidney Ponson gave up seven runs in five innings Tuesday in a 7-2 loss to the Oakland A’s.

The Royals seem ready, regardless, to anoint him as the fourth member of their rotation — albeit not officially.
[...]
Ponson was sharply critical of his performance — “
It wasn’t good at all,” — but Hillman chose to emphasize the positive.

I’m not disappointed,” he said. “I’m disappointed in the results, but I’m not disappointed in what he brings to the table. Obviously, you’d like to see better production.”
What, exactly, does Hillman think that Ponson can bring to the table besides a hearty appetite, an caustic persona and sub-par pitching skills?

I do not understand how this guy keeps getting opportunities to pitch. By all accounts, he's an incorrigible ass, he pitches poorly again and again and again (even in Spring Training), and he just looks like a slovenly, sweaty, greasy mess. He looks like the caricature guys like Murray Chass paint of bloggers in their moms' basements, minus the glasses. What is there to like here? That you can call him Sir Sidney?

If you think this teaches me a lesson, you haven't been paying attention.

A triumph of total idiocy over garden variety stupidity.

The Royals have two Braves' castoffs -- Kyle Davies and Horacio Ramirez -- who I never thought would be anything other than the worst pitchers on their teams. Then they sign Sidney . . .

Really, I just like to post stuff like this because I can imagine Ron throwing stuff around his flat in London, cursing.

It's easy to hate the Yanks for all they represent, but it might be more fun to mock the Royals for the awesome ineptitude.

EPIC FAIL

That is so wrong in so many ways. I don't throw things.

I just bang my head against the wall.

Until I cry myself to sleep.

Mommy, make the bad man go away.

The bad man will go away Ron. Unfortunately, he'll be back four days later.
