It's about the money, memorabilia edition

If it's there, it's for sale!

Seats, foul poles, dugouts, urinals and numerous other items from the old Yankee Stadium will be sold to fans as part of a $10 million deal between the Yankees and New York City, the New York Post reported on Wednesday.
[...]
Seats from Shea Stadium, the Mets' ballpark that was demolished this offseason, sold for $869 a pair, leading to speculation that seats from the old Yankee Stadium may sell for a considerably higher figure.

"
The seats are where the money is, but in this economy, it's tough to put a value on sports collectibles," Mike Heffner of auction house Lelands.com told the Post.
I wouldn't mind having a pair of seats, but not sure if I want a urinal. Can't see that getting past the wife's veto. Then again, I don't have much room for a foul pole, either.

There a joke in there somewhere about a "foul pole" and a urinal, but I just can't quite see it.

Thanks for going there, Ralph.

No problem.

In all seriousness, I'd love two or three seats, but I don't see it happening, they'll be prohibitively expensive. Also, I wonder if you'd be able to choose the type of seat you'd want. The seats on the Main level were different than the seats on the upper tier. The ones on Main bolted to the ground, whereas the ones on Upper bolted to the riser of the seating area behind the seat. You'd have to actually bolt those to a wall in order to sit them up.

A turnstile would be kind of cool to have...

A urinal would only be cool if you could actually hook it up in your home bathroom. The boys outnumber the girls in your house, right, Jason? Promise your wife the toilet seat would never be left up again.

Sorry, double post... re "You'd have to actually bolt those to a wall in order to sit them up." I have seats from the Vet that are like this, and they came with little bracket-feet thingies that bolted on and allow them to stand freely. I have a pair from Baltimore's Memorial Stadium, too.

Totally, Carl. I can put it in the bathroom in my man-cave, errr, office.

I could run some plumbing into my neighbor's yard as a bonus.

My wife is confused/terrified by urinals.....I'd love to get one if I wasn't moving in less than a year!

It wouldn't be a bad idea for a sports bar, I guess.

I find it hilarious that you have a different photo of the bathrooms at the old Yankee Stadium than I have on my blog. How many people were taking photos in there back in the day?!?!

You could get a few and paint a few of your favorite Red Sux (and Mannie) on them. It encourages good aim...

Ross, that IS scary, ain't it? Great work on your site, btw.

Actually, I've been trying to find one to put in the corner of my yard in Austin. Foul pole that is, not a urinal.

Jason, since I cashed in my 08 bday present on the promise of seats, let me know where and when these do become available.

Why the hell would ANYONE want a urinal?!? It's not like Babe, Mickey, Gehrig, Joe D or even Jeter pee'd there. Every fat drunk fan pissed all over every inch, inside and out! Last thing I would want in my home!

Foulpole in the backyard?!? Love it! Not as much as the giant Babe Ruth bat. I've got the perfect place for that. Front yard baby!

Did I mention that I live in San Diego? Imagine seeing the bat on a trailer driving cross country. Love it!
