Look who's hanging around?

First time I've done this, but seems that we have a former MLB'er around these parts. Bob Tufts, a big lefty reliver in the early 1980's, has been spotted while commenting on the Hooton Foundation bruhaha that I managed to create. Bob spent a year with the Giants and two with the Royals. Bob, welcome!

And for those who love a good tidbit like this: Bob was traded in 1983 from the Royals to the Reds for Charlie Liebrant. Charlie went on to win an additional 124 games, including 17 games in 1985, finishing 5th in the CY voting.

{And dig the "Future Stars" on the cards to the right: Bob Brenly and Chili Davis. Cool!}

From what I can ascertain, Bob's working with the Winning Beyond Winning organization, who's mission is:

The mission of Winning Beyond Winning is to address the needs of children and aspiring athletes of all ages, amateur and professional, through career preparation and all phases of their careers, including preparing them for life after sports, how to be independent of drugs and/or alcohol, and to place special emphasis on the benefits of competing beyond just winning.
That's great stuff. I might have to see how I can get them to present at my boys' elementary school!

(and as a side note, Ryne Duren, former Yanks pitcher, also works with that organization. I met Ryne many, many years ago at a charity function. Great guy.)

Yes, it is a washed up old player on your site.

Nice trade by John Schuerholz - Tufts for Leibrandt!
